Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)

At Crocodile Martial Arts our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) program is proudly affiliated with the Carlos Machado Jiu-Jitsu Association.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a ground-based discipline that teaches you how to overcome a larger, stronger opponent by using their strength and momentum against them. As part of the Carlos Machado Jiu-Jitsu association, we are dedicated to helping you learn the basics of this discipline before building your skills up one step at a time.

We offer scalable instruction to meet the needs of any skill level and we work hard to maintain an ego-free environment where you train with complete self-confidence.

In our BJJ classes, you can take on:

  • Powerful throws and takedowns
  • Lightning-quick transitions
  • Ground control and defensive strategies
  • Submission skills to help you come out on top

Master Carlos Machado has over 50 years of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu experience and is considered by many as a true legend of BJJ. He has received 8 hall-of-fame awards, currently holds a Coral Belt (8th Degree Black Belt), is the head of one of the largest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu organizations in the world and had a successful competition career spanning 34 years.

His success has continued throughout his teaching career, being involved with coaching of professional athletes, UFC fighters, and celebrities. Some of his most well-known students include Chuck Norris (who received his BJJ Black Belt from Master Carlos), Keanu Reeves (Master Carlos worked with Keanu during filming of the John Wick movies), and Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson (current Welterweight contender in the UFC). Master Carlos is the oldest of the 5 Machado brothers, who as a family, have a name for training some big-name martial artists, athletes and celebrities, others who have been trained by the Machado brothers are Ashton Kutcher, Wesley Snipes, Scarlett Johansson, Charlie Hunnam, Dan Inosanto, and Richard Norton.
