I began training in martial arts when I was six, because I was interested after seeing a martial arts demo at my school. Before I even stepped on the mats, all the instructors were so friendly and welcoming. It has continued this way throughout my journey as a martial artist, from Little Crocs all the way to the adult program. Martial arts has taught me many important skills, both physical and mental, and has really built up my confidence in so many ways. It’s also a great place to meet new friends who last for life, supporting each other through our martial arts journeys. I love the safe and happy environment I’m welcomed into the moment I walk through the door, putting a smile on my face on even the worst days. For me, Crocodile Martial Arts is more than somewhere I go to train in martial arts – it’s like a second home.
I first started teaching martial arts when I was a green belt, at nine years old. I had seen other junior students teaching, so I asked if I could help. Since then, a Junior Leadership Team was created, and I was lucky enough to be a part of it. I have always enjoyed helping others grow, whether it be at school or during my own martial arts class, and teaching martial arts allowed me to do that even more. I love seeing the smiles on students’ faces when they have worked so hard on something and finally get it, and helping that smile appear is even more satisfying. I really enjoy working with students one on one, as it lets me give them specific corrections that help them grow as a martial artist. And of course… the little ones are so cute! Overall, teaching martial arts allows me to help others grow, which is something I am passionate about.
