Grand Master Anthony Hockley has studied martial arts since 1979. Through over 40 years of experience he has trained in martial arts styles from all around the world, earning black belt & instructor grade levels in over 20 martial arts systems, some of which are listed below. Having both trained and graded internationally, he has had the honour of learning from many internationally recognised instructors, including Senior Grand Master Chuck Sullivan, Master Carlos Machado, Shihan Dana Abbott, Sensei Benny ‘The Jet’ Uquidez, Hanshi Ramon Lawrence OAM, Supreme Grand Master Cacoy Canete, Sifu Larry Hartsell, and many more.
Martial arts in not about fighting it’s about helping real people feel good about themselves and achieving something in their lives. Becoming a black belt is about self-perfection of one’s character not building one’s ego. I may get called Master, but I am always a student of the arts and always will train with an open mind and love in my heart.

My love for Martial Arts came at a very young age, and since the age of 8 years old I have been training in many forms of Martial Arts. It is with this knowledge and experience that I hope to offer you a very professional and unique training experience unlike any other in Australia.
I have been fortunate to have studied and learned from some of the great Martial Artists in the world. Amongst those are Professor Wally Jay, Grand Master Cacoy Canete, Guro Dan Inosanto, Senior Grand Master Chuck Sullivan, Grand Master Vic Le Roux, Grand Master Larry Tatum, Master Carlos Machado, Master Jan De Jong, Sensei Benny ‘The Jet’ Urquidez, Shihan Dana Abbott, Kyoshi Dave Kovar, Master Jeff Speakman, Hanshi Ramon Lawrence, Grand Master Richard VanDonk and more.
I worked in the security industry for more than a decade covering all areas of the job including personal protection for various celebrities such as —Elle MacPherson, Michael Jackson and Silverchair just to name a few. I am also a former member of the Royal Australian Air Force.
I had a successful tournament career, winning various competitions and several State Titles under the NAS Martial Arts Tournament circuit. I have competed in Kung Fu, Karate, Judo, Ju-Jitsu, Knife Throwing, Rifle Shooting and Open Martial Arts Competitions over several years and won various awards. In 2018, I represented Australia and was a finalist in Kyudo (Japanese Archery) 3rd World Kyudo Taikai in Tokyo Japan.
I have trained and graded overseas and taught in various states throughout Australia. I have featured in ‘Blitz’ and ‘Bujutsu International’ Martial Arts magazines on several occasions teaching techniques.
In recent years I have been nominated for and won some very prestigious awards. It has been my honour to be inducted into the following Hall of Fames:
